Lice Facts
"Lice" is plural for "Louse" much like "Mice" is plural for "Mouse".
Lice have six leg with hook like claws that enable them to climb up and down the hair shaft rather quickly.
Head lice cannot jump or fly!
It takes head to head contact or by the sharing of personal objects such as hair ties, scarves, and hats to get head lice.
You cannot drown lice. Washing your hair will not kill the lice. Lice can shut their bodies down for up to two hours!
They live very close to the scalp and occasionally wander down the hair shaft.
They only live on human beings: you can't catch them from animals.
"Nits" are the eggs that lice lay.
"Nits" are glued to the hair shaft.
"Nits" can't be washed off. They must be manually removed.
